Tuesday 9th March 2027 - SKETCHBOOK ADVENTURE
Learning to Draw Anywhere
Your sketchbook can become your travelling art studio!
Learn simple ways to record the world around you through quick sketches, notes, colour swatches and small studies. Thumbnail sketches will help you to keep in the boundaries of what you are drawing and are used by all levels of artists to work out the correct format before delving into a painting.
We will explore different approaches to sketching rather than worrying about producing a finished artwork every time.
You might sketch a tree, a building, a cup of coffee, a person walking past or a beautiful view. The aim is to make drawing part of everyday life.

Tuesday 6th April 2027 - SEEING WITHOUT LOOKING
Contour & Semi-Contour Drawing
This is a fun workshop that will have you drawing in a completely different way!
We will explore contour drawing and semi-contour drawing, including the wonderful challenge of drawing without looking at your page.
It might sound strange at first, but this exercise encourages you to slow down and really look at what you are seeing. Instead of worrying about creating a perfect drawing, you concentrate on following the shapes, edges and movement of your subject.
The results can be surprising, quirky and sometimes very funky!
These exercises are also an excellent way to develop observation, hand-eye coordination and confidence in drawing. With practice, you will begin to notice more detail and become more comfortable translating what you see onto paper.
Come prepared to have fun, experiment and perhaps discover that a “wrong” drawing can sometimes be the most interesting one!

Tuesday 11th May 2027 - PAINTING FLOWERS
From Observation to Expression
Flowers are wonderful subjects for learning to paint.
We will look at the structure, shape and movement of flowers before exploring ways to interpret them in charcoal, pencil and paint.
You can work from real flowers, photographs or a combination of both and experiment with a more realistic or expressive approach. Feel free to use my flowers.
Level: Beginner – Intermediate
